14 “Rooftop Bars” Around the World That I Love

There is something special about seeing a place from above. I love finding rooftop bars around the world to get the views, watch the sunset, and watch the world go by. Even if you do not drink alcohol, all of these spots would still be amazing places to see the sights! So many places are improving their NA options and also have coffees, deserts, and other fun things to enjoy! I also put “rooftop bars” in quotations because some of these technically may not qualify as rooftops but to me they have the same vibe! This list is in absolutely no particular order, just the order I was thinking of and remembering these spots!

There are some affiliate links included in the post, if you book through them there will be no cost to you what so ever, but I may receive a small commission. This helps me to keep posts like this COMPLETELY ad free! I want my blog to be clean and enjoyable for those looking for info and ideas!

Sercotel Rosellon: Barcelona, Spain

St. Andrea Skybar: Budapest, Hungary

This bar is my happy place! Beautiful views of the skyline of Budapest, the most incredible wines, relaxed vibe, and more peaceful than ruin bar scene down below! We had previously gone wine tasting in Eger at the St Andrea winery and I was so excited to hear that they had a bar in town. Of course the epic views didn’t hurt and I would highly recommend this spot on your visit to Budapest.

Bar Tomate: Barcelona, Spain

This one was such a great surprise. We were wandering through the Placa Reial and looking for a good people watching drink spot. We noticed a little sign that said “we have a rooftop”. We popped in and ordered drinks, took them up the elevator, and found the most charming little rooftop spot! This was in February and we were the only people up there! The view over the square was so beautiful and we could see the Sagrada Familia in the distance as well! This was super casual and we had to go down to the bar on the ground level to get drinks, but we really enjoyed hanging out here!

Terrass Hotel Rooftop Bar: Paris, France

This is one of my favorite spots in Paris to grab a drink with a view. You can see the Eiffel Tower in the distance, the rooftop is well decorated and the hotel is so nice! I hope to stay there someday! The drinks were what I would consider average prices for a rooftop with a view. You could not make a reservation at the time of our visit but we only had to queue for a few minutes. There is so much to do in this area of Paris so this is a great place to start or end your evening in the 18th!

Rifugio Lagazoui: Dolomites, Italy

This is admittedly not a rooftop bar but the deck of a Rifugio in the Dolomites. This is also my favorite place I think I have ever had a glass of wine. The deck overlooks endless mountains and the sunset here is one of the most stunning I’ve ever seen. We hiked here during our Alta Via 1 trek and stayed the night. You could also hike up here for the day, or take the cable car up. It is important to note the time of the last cable car of the day or you’ll have a long walk down if you’re not staying the night.

Oro Bistrot: Rome, Italy

I was very excited to go to this one, as I had seen so many amazing pics and videos on instagram. It was really beautiful and had a very nice view. However, I do not feel like EVERY seat had an awesome view. Some were a little less thrilling than others. This was also super expensive in my opinion. I believe we paid about 25 USD for a drink each. You did get “free” snacks with your cocktails, but I am not sure if it was worth it. Overall, if you truly love a drink and a good view this one is really neat, but I hope to find a better one in Rome on our next trip!

Hotel Winebox: Valparaiso, Chile

This bar was on the roof of our hotel in Valparaiso and I REALLY loved it. The bar had incredible views over the whole city and was the most beautiful spot for sunset. The owner and creator of the hotel is a sommelier and he choses wonderful wines for tasting! We also loved staying at this hotel and using the rooftop because Valparaiso can be known to be a bit less safe in the evenings (as told to us by the staff and locals of the area). This bar gave us a beautiful place to be with a beautiful view where we felt safe and comfortable.

Cafe Del Mar: Cartagena, Colombia

This bar is on the walls of the old town of Cartagena. It provides such nice views of the old city and of the ocean. When we went it was quite bustling and had a bit of a party vibe and was a bit less relaxed. It is a quite large space so you likely don’t have to worry about getting a spot. There was also live music when we went which was quite fun! Its definitely an experience to have when you’re in Cartagena!

I don’t have great pics of this spot because it was New Years Eve and things were crazy!

Swing Cocktail Bar: Naxos, Greece

I am still classifying this as a rooftop bar since I make the rules here. Even though it is not that high up, it IS on the roof and it does have beautiful views. The cocktails here are SO fun and are served in the most creative ways! We loved trying different cocktails to see how they were presented! Again, it’s going to be a little more expensive than your average cocktail since the presentation is so fun! Highly recommend this for a fun little stop if you’re in Naxos!

AX The Palace: Sliema, Malta

This was such a delightful spot to watch the sunset in Malta. There were views over the whole city, an infinity rooftop pool to relax around, and a really nice chilled out vibe. You could make reservations, but we didn’t have any trouble just showing up. It was also in a nice area with lots of dinner spots for after sunset. This is also on the rooftop of a hotel that looked quite nice, but we did not stay here.

DeDakkas: Haarlem, Netherlands

This place is such a cool concept, they took the rooftop of a parking garage and turned it into a bar/restaurant/park-ish area. The garage has great views over Haarlem and has such a chill & relaxed vibe. The indoor area could be described as a greenhouse and there are plants and flowers around the whole property. It is an amazing and fun use of the top floor of a parking garage and a really neat stop when you’re in Haarlem.

Sal Rosa: Albufiera, Portugal

I’ll admit at first glance I wasn’t sure I would like Albufiera. It seemed very commercial and touristy and quite honestly a bit overwhelming. It ended up having so much hidden charm and Sal Rosa was one of my favorite spots. If you were walking by from the front you would have no idea about the stunning view they are hiding within! They had wonderful cocktails, the most charming decor, the kindest staff, and the views overlooking the beach of Albufiera were perfection! I couldn’t recommend stopping into this little gem more highly!

Hotel Mundial Rooftop Bar: Lisbon, Portugal

We stayed at this hotel for a night in Lisbon and it was very appealing to me because of its central location. The central location also makes it a great spot for a rooftop view. You basically have 360 views of the city of Lisbon and it is so beautiful no matter which way you turn. The decor is simple and charming and the vibe here is very nice and relaxed. We loved popping up here for a sunset drink and again at the end of the night to see the city all lit up!

Le Meridien: Nice, France

Admittedly its been years and years since we have been to Nice. But, we love a Le Meridien hotel and we love a rooftop so visiting this one was no brainer for us. In checking out the website now it looks different than it did years ago, but I would be willing to bet it’s still a really nice spot for a drink and a view so I still wanted to include it in this list!

I only have one very old pic from this spot! But you can see through the booking link how nice it all is!
