4 sunset spots in budapest

I am sure there are lists out there a mile long about amazing sunset spots in Budapest. I picked these 4 because I personally experienced them and I know they are wonderful. They also give you a good mix of both Buda & Pest and the middle (the river)!

St Andrea Sky Bar

We were so lucky during our time in Hungary to visit the wine regions of Tokaj and Eger. When we were in Eger, we did a tasting at the St Andrea winery. This wine was some of the best I have ever had. The reds were absolutely incredible. As soon as we left I knew I had to find this wine in Budapest. It worked out even better that this wine could be found on an epic rooftop! This bar is centrally located and has amazing views over the city of Budapest. It was a very nice spot and I would highly recommend coming here to try some St Andrea wines. They have a full bar (in case you’re not a wine lover) and you could order anything you wanted up there. We got to taste their “Agape” wine collection and it was phenomenal, if you are up for a splurge you should 100% try it. I now have expensive taste for a wine I can not afford!

Prosecco Boat Cruise

This was such a fun tour in Budapest. I was skeptical about it because it was seemingly such a cliche tour and was so affordable. It ended up being really enjoyable and something I would say you MUST DO in Budapest! The boat ride is a bit over an hour and you really get to see all of the beautiful sites of Budapest from the river. The best time to book this tour is around sunset so that you can see the city light up. I recommend googling the sunset time and booking your tour about 30 minutes prior, this way you get to watch sunset from the boat. The prosecco really is UNLIMITED, and I was shocked how many refills some people had! They also had a speaker that covered a bit of the history of Budapest and some of the sites which was really nice.

If you’d like more info about the boat cruise I wrote a whole blog post about it… you can click here. If you don’t need any convincing and just wanna book it, you can click the button below!

Fishermans Bastion

This is one of the most popular sights in Budapest so it may seem obvious, but I was surprised how many people do NOT stay in this area for sunset. Budapest is split into two sides Buda and Pest and many people visit the Buda area during the day but head back to Pest in the evenings. We stayed in Buda for 2 nights and found it so peaceful and enjoyable. There is a cafe built into the Fishermans Bastion where you can have drinks/snacks and watch the sunset with a view over Pest and the Parliament building. You could also just hang out in this area for free, wander around, and sit up on the steps to watch the sunset, it is truly an epic view.

In case you’re interested in the hotel we stayed at because we truly LOVED it. You can check it out and also book through my link. I may earn a small commission at no cost to you. This helps me to keep this blog completely ad free!

Ferris Wheel of Budapest

This was such a fun spot to watch the sunset and feel like a kid again. We timed it so that the sun was setting and we popped on for a ride. You get some amazing views over the city and a nice amount of time on the ride. It cost about 10 USD per person but we found it a really enjoyable thing to do!

Other Noteworthy Spots

White Raven Skybar: This is a bar on the top of the Hilton Hotel on the Buda side. It was closed when we visited so I do not have any images to show. I have seen pictures of the view looking down over the church and the Fishermans Bastion and it looks amazing, if I were to return this would definitely be my spot!

Margaret Island: We didn’t make it here during our trip either but it was high on my list. It is a little island in the middle of the river that is FULL of green space and things to do and see. You can walk to it from the center of Buda or Pest and when we did our boat cruise we could see people hanging out all over the island for the sunset, it looked delightful!
