Choosing a food tour when you’re visiting a new city or country is one of the most exciting parts of travel. I love booking a food tour when we arrive in a new city to get a feel for the place. It also helps to know what to be on the lookout for during our trips! I highly recommend doing food related tours on your first day if you can!
There is one website that I always check first when looking to book a food tour and that is: Devour Tours.
We’ve been on countless food tours in countless cities over the past 10-12 years of travel. Over and over again Devour tours come out as my favorites and here is why.

Devour Tours focus on Small Group Tours
One thing I always value in a food tour is a small group experience. I hate when there are so many people that you can’t even hear your guide. When you need to use a headset, a tour easily loses my attention. With Devour you know the group size will always be reasonable and it will be a more personal experience. You’ll be free to ask questions, get answers, and get to know your guide and tour companions.
I’ve been on food tours in cities with 20+ people and not only does it take away from the experience, but it also limits the places they can take you. With a Devour Tour being so intimate, you are really able to get into smaller local spots. That’s the magic of traveling isn’t it? We’ve been lucky enough to be in wine bars in Paris that only seat 4 people. We’ve been in the basement of a tapas bar in Barcelona that you’d never know was there. You can’t have those experiences with a big generic group.
I have also noticed that in small groups you’re able to customize a bit more. I did the tour in Naples with someone who is a bit more picky about food. Devour Tours were able to give her some different options when needed. Large food tours or big groups don’t generally offer this type of accommodation.

Devour Tours value local establishments
Thus far I have done Devour Tours in Paris, Barcelona, and Naples. On every tour I was so impressed with the stops. I LOVE that I am always taken to places I’d likely never have walked into on my own. They’re not the top spots on the “tourist trail”, they’re those special spots that guides and locals know about! Every tour we’ve been on we’ve been treated with such kindness from the establishments we visited. I have sincerely enjoyed everything we’ve tried.
I cherish discovering these gems that may have intimidated me to walk into alone. I also appreciate that after the tours I have the confidence to revisit these spots. I could also try other places like them because I feel more comfortable. Devour is taking the time to curate your experience so you’re hitting the spots that many other tourists likely miss.

Devour Tours hire Local Guides
On all of my tours I valued how knowledgeable the local guides were. We didn’t just learn about the food, we also learned about the history or even the current events of the places we were walking around and exploring. Our guides have all been locals who live in and know the areas well. On our Naples tour our guide even told us she helped in curating the tour. I love hearing things like this because it lets me know that they are truly reputable. The guides are passionate about the places they live and sincere in sharing them with those on the tour.
Devour Tours are Reasonably Priced
I have found Devour tours to be at very reasonable price points. You get so much food for what you pay for, and a true experience on top of that.
Devour Tours Always more than enough food and drink
I have NEVER left a Devour Tour hungry. They also never slack on providing included drinks, which is a huge bonus. I’ve been on numerous food tours where you are well fed, but drinks are an afterthought. Devour tours always include drinks as part of the experience. They include numerous stops and tastings which I find special. There is something disappointing about a food tour where you spend the whole time in one place. I’ve never had that experience with Devour, there has always been a bit of walking and a number of unique stops. Their descriptions on the website are also super accurate to what you will get.

Devour Tours are Thoughtful with dietary or drinking restrictions
I don’t personally have any dietary restrictions, but I have traveled with friends/family who do. Each time Devour tours and the guides have been so helpful and accommodating. I travel with a few people who do not drink alcohol. Devour Tours have been so accommodating in making sure they don’t feel left out. They made sure they always had something to enjoy as well without making it awkward. This is something I really appreciate as this can definitely be an issue on some tours.
